Salma Hayek has spoken out against Harvey Weinstein's denials of sexual abuse against herself and actress Lupita Nyong'o, saying he hadn't responded to any other actresses' claims in the same way because they were both women of color. "You had a good run but it is time now to be generous with the actresses". "I hope I can get another job".

"He only responded to two women, two women of colour".

Hayek said it was hard to hire known female writers and directors in the USA now, as studios are snapping them up trying to catch up with the public mood.

At Cannes 2018, there are only three women filmmakers out of a total 21, which led to a protest and festival director Thierry Fremaux said that the festival would look to select more films directed by female filmmakers in the future.

Her refusals of massages, showers and sex enraged him, she wrote, adding: "I don't think he hated anything more than the word "no".

She continued: "So he went back attacking the two women of colour, in the hopes of discrediting. if he could discredit us - which would be easier for the audience, the readers, to not believe us - he could then maybe discredit the rest".

"It is a well-known fact, if you are a woman of colour, people believe what you say less".

In the wake of the scandals that have followed Weinstein's downfall, Hayek said men in Hollywood "are terrified" and that "predators are hiding".

The 51-year-old actress came forward last year as one of over 50 women to place misconduct allegations against the disgraced producer.

In one of the most vivid accounts of Harvey Weinstein's alleged sexual harassment, Hayek said the mogul became her nightmare with relentless advances and a death threat.

"It is a very exciting time for men now".

While Weinstein and his team issued generic denials of many women's accusations, Hayek's and Nyong'o's allegations were among the small handful they addressed by name.

"Men have the opportunity to rethink what it means to be a man, and with this comes a lot of freedom". "We should have come together sooner - that is what did it", Hayek, who was nominated for an Oscar for "Frida", told reporters.
