It only seemed like a matter of time before we reached this point and got to see the Houston Rockets take on the Golden State Warriors with a trip to the NBA Finals on the line.

National Basketball Association fans all over the world have finally reached their long awaited match up between the Warriors and the Rockets in the finals. The Warriors know this Rockets team is engineered just to topple them, and that might result in the most energized Golden State series we've seen in a long time. The matchups of Steph and Durant vs. James Harden and Chris Paul are nearly too exciting to wait for.

The Rockets and the Warriors have been the two best teams in the West this season and finished one and two in the regular standings. The old Rockets didn't play defense and never were a real threat. "Good modern-day big. He just dives (toward the basket), doesn't ask for the ball in the block and allows James and Chris to do their thing while giving them a lob threat, which gives them more space".

Of course, there were some questions, too.

Just like in the first round, the Rockets made quick work of the Jazz in five games.

Crystallizing Houston's most-overlooked player, Clint Capela, against Golden State's scant centers, could be this ring-driven roster's paramount piece in undermining the Warriors front and backcourt. As Paul scored his 39th point, the Rockets' win well in hand by then, a crestfallen Mitchell was delivered from an examination in the tunnel back to the bench in a cart.

"I don't wanna be stupid about it", D'Antoni told Business Insider in November. He averaged 13.9 points, 10.8 rebounds and 1.9 blocks during the regular season, and shot a league-best 65.2 percent from the field.

"Chris is a killer", Kerr said. Like I've said before, all that stuff is cool. Paul scored or assisted on the Rockets' final 18 points, showing off his array of moves in the process.

The Paul-Harden-D'Antoni pairing couldn't have gone smoother. Harden didn't play in the second matchup of the season, a Rockets' loss. Boston has won four of the previous seven meetings, but Cleveland has won the last two - including the East finals last season. His usage percentage remained the same.

"Whatever it took to win", Paul said.

Paul meanwhile played down his personal contribution to the win, even though his 41 points marked a career high in a playoff game.

So, while the trend can be broken, history says that having a team loaded with Finals experience is certainly an edge.

Since his return in the semifinals, Game 2, hitting his first three taken off a Draymond Green assist, Curry has averaged 24.5 points, 3.5 assists and 5.25 rebounds in 31.25 minutes of play in the four games.
