Iran forces launch missiles at Israel from Syria, IDF says

In a region that is already a powder keg of two civil wars (Syria and Yemen), another embroiled in fights with internal factions (Iraq), one dealing with local and foreign insurgency (Egypt), and another on the cusp of straight-up imploding (Libya), President Donald Trump's unilateral decision to pull out of the Iran nuclear deal has increased tensions even more. Israel has not confirmed or denied involvement.

The military directive Tuesday came "following the identification of irregular activity of Iranian forces in Syria".

The strikes, "probably Israeli", targeted a military airport in Aleppo in the country's north and Brigade 47 in Hama, where Iranian forces are stationed, the Observatory said.

The Israeli military said it viewed the attack "with great severity".
