Microsoft Build 2018: New Windows 'Experiences' for the mobile workforce announced

The Timeline feature in Microsoft Launcher might help the software giant gain more popularity among the users.

What follows are five key announcements from Microsoft in connection with its Build 2018 developers conference.

Visual Studio IntelliCode is a new capability that enhances everyday software development with the power of AI. According to Microsoft, the revenue share will be upped to 95:5 in favor of the developer on all applications sold through the store on consumer Windows 10 devices - which includes Mobile, PC's, Windows Mixed Reality and the Surface Hub. This builds on the company's commitment to developers and open source. Project Kinect basically takes the depth-sensing prowess of the Xbox accessory, shrinks it to a tiny frame with new sensors for developers to use with AI and Internet-of-Things via Azure.

Updates to Microsoft's Bot Framework, used for integrating chatbots, will offer improved dialogues and customisation of voices and personalities. At its Build conference today, Microsoft announced Project Kinect for Azure. Through this developers can create camera-based IoT solutions by using Azure services and hardware from Qualcomm Vision Intelligence Platform and AI Engine. The camera can also power advanced Azure services, such as machine learning, stream analytics and cognitive services, that can be downloaded from the cloud to run locally on the edge. Today, we released the integration of Visual Studio App Center and GitHub, which provides GitHub developers building apps for iOS and Android devices to seamlessly automate DevOps processes right from within the GitHub experience.
