Google Assistant on Wear OS is getting a few useful updates

Wear OS by Google is getting a supercharged Google Assistant experience, the company has announced today, with the rebranded smartwatch platform adding new voice control features.

When it comes to smart home assistants, Alexa is in first place. Other products include Ikea lights, Deutsche Telekom's Magenta hub and soon also ADT lights and thermostat, Xiaomi lights, Hunter Douglas window treatments, Hisense's H9E Plus and H9100E Plus TVs, portable AC and dehumidifiers, Arlo security cameras, and new LG appliances. So you'll be to say something like "Play ESPN on the Hopper" and your TV will tune to ESPN. Scrolling up after asking Assistant a query will reveal a list of related suggestions such as possible follow up questions in rounded bubbles that users can select to continue the conversation.

"With Amazon and Google vying for spots in both the smart home and eCommerce spaces, Google's pricing has revitalised the artificial intelligence race to dominate the home". IHS market analyst Blake Kozak estimates that Amazon Alexa is able to work across 11,200 smart home devices in 2017, as pointed out by CNET. The announcement is a bit of a surprise, as the company is readying for Google I/O, its biggest event of the year. Google has made significant progress in ensuring that Assistant works with all kinds of connected devices.
