Teen Arrested for Allegedly Planning an ISIS-Inspired Mass Shooting

Matin Azizi-Yarand, 17, faces charges of making a terroristic threat and criminal solicitation of capital murder, the Collin County district attorney's office said.

The teenager sent more than $1,400 to other individuals to buy weapons and tactical gear. Authorities also said he had drafted a "Message to America" justifying his planned attack.

"I'd like to thank the FBI's North Texas Joint Terrorism Task Force and the Frisco and Plano Police Departments for their efforts in this case and their vigilance in protecting the citizens of Collin County". He also allegedly said that he would use the mobile messaging app to find others who could help him with an attack.

In March, Azizi-Yarand began scouting Stonebriar as the location for the attack, the affidavit stated, and urged the FBI CHS to travel to DFW and rent an apartment.

He sent the source documents and propaganda, including a document authored by Eric Harris, one of the attackers in the 1999 shooting of Columbine High School, the affidavit said.

The teen, Matin Azizi-Yarand, who lives with his parents in Plano, was arrested Tuesday at Plano West Senior High School and is now being held at the Collin County Jail on $3 million bond. He's now in custody at the Collin County Jail, with bond set at $3 million.

The suspect allegedly met the Federal Bureau of Investigation undercover agent in person in April during which they visited the mall and that the need for more weapons was discussed, CBS DFW reported. (Kuffar is Arabic for 'disbelievers.') "The brothers in Europe and the brother in NY?"
