TV presenter Dale Winton has died aged 62, agent confirms

Arguably his most famous series was Supermarket Sweep, which Dale fronted for a decade between the 90s and early 00s.

His long-term agent Jan Kennedy said in a statement: 'It is with great sadness that we can confirm the passing of Dale Winton who died at home earlier today.

"While we know many will share this bad loss, we ask that you respect the family's privacy at this time of grief", she said.

No other information is now known about about his passing.

A year later, he appeared on TV's Loose Women and revealed he had been secretly battling depression after going through a hard break up.

Television presenter Dale Winton was famed for hosting shows such as Supermarket Sweep and the National Lottery, see his best bits. It ran in ITV's daytime schedule from 1993 to 2001 and was revived in 2007, with the top prize value increased to £5,000.

Good Morning Britain presenter Piers Morgan, Strictly's Craig Revel Horwood and Britain's Got Talent judge David Walliams were just some of the many celebrities paying tribute.

Expressing his condolences on Twitter, Piers Morgan tweeted: 'RIP Dale Winton, 62.

He said: 'Dale was a friendly chap, he would acknowledge you no matter who you were, it is very sad.

Davina McCall paid tribute to Winton, writing on Twitter that he was "a lovely, warm, kind, sensitive, generous soul with a touch of naughty".

Craig Revel Horwood said: "So sad to wake up to the news that Dale Winton had passed. A really amusing and kind person gone too soon, RIP".

Duncan Bannatyne wrote: "RIP the great entertainer Dale Winton". So young as 62'.

Winton, who came out as gay in his 2002 autobiography, spoke about his battle with depression in 2016 after a spell out of the limelight.

In 2015 he sparked concern after failing to attend the funeral of Cilla Black, who was one of his closest friends.

Speaking on Loose Women, Dale said, "I could have taken myself off the TV but I didn't".

Dale told us: "Well, the company that made it originally took it to the TV festival in Cannes recently and it created a lot of interest". Listen, there are worse things in the world - but I had depression and I didn't realise.

The registered owner of the house refused to comment when contacted, saying: "I don't want to talk about it".
