An apparent confirmation from Jio comes through Reliance Industries' third quarter report that specified the testing of Jio's eMBMS testing pan-India. Well, while the pricing of the data packs is important, what's also equally important are the download speeds that are offered to the customers.

Earlier this year, it was also reported that Reliance Jio might enter a mutually-beneficial partnership, with Xiaomi to sell the Chinese giant's television and smartphones exclusively on the Jio retail network and the Reliance Digital chain of stores.

In a bid to compete with Airtel and Jio, Idea Cellular has launched a new Rs. 249 tariff pack.

The 398 plan of Idea is not a new plan but is an old one.

In the October report, the LTE availability from Jio was at 95.6%.

While Airtel demonstrates higher speed, it lags furthest behind on network coverage (66%), behind Jio (96%), Vodafone (68%) and Idea (68%), the OpenSignal said.

That being said, telecom operator Vodafone emerged as the victor in 3G and 4G latency. Idea Cellular has silently revised the plan for selected users.

In terms of 3G speed test, Airtel, BSNL, Idea Cellular and Vodafone are in the top four positions. If you want the exact numbers, here they are: Airtel had an average 4G download speed of 9.3 Mbps, average 3G download speed of 2.7 Mbps, and, average overall download speed of 6 Mbps.

Reliance Jio had tested an unreleased app on Google PlayStore called the JioBroadcast.

Having said that, while Airtel dominated 4G download speeds chart at a national level, it lost to Idea in UP East and UP West circles, and to Vodafone in Gujarat and Tamil Nadu circles.

The firm noted a surge in 4G availability by incumbents but the 4G speeds remained stagnant.

If we believe Opensignal's latest report on mobile Internet speed in India, then a shocking revelation comes into the picture: Jio has one of the worst 4G speed, compared with other telecom operators.

This declares Airtel as the fastest 4G (as well as 3G) network in the country with an average download speed of 6Mbps.
