Wild Get Back in Series with win against Jets

The last thing the Jets needed to do at that point, up 2-0 in games and halfway home in this best-of-seven series, was to turn what has always been a mostly friendly and good-natured rivalry with a hockey neighbor into a bitterly fought battle to the death. And don't expect any panic desperation or frustration from Winnipeg when it resumes the best-of-seven, opening-round series Tuesday night. In his career (regular season), he has gone 108-94 with a 2.41 GAA in his home games and 64-63 with a 2.64 GAA against the Central Division, while against the Jets he has gone 8-9 with a 2.75 GAA. That figure has trended lower lately, however, as it has created 4.6 takeaways over its last 10 games and 3.8 takeaways over its last five.

Blake Wheeler and Tyler Myers scored for the Jets.

Myers didn't practise Monday and coach Paul Maurice wouldn't offer an update on his status.

But it wasn't just the Jets playing poorer.

The Jets' possession has been off the charts in this series, a large part of the reason they've outshot the Wild 84 -37 in two games.

Myers remained down for some time before being helped off. Foligno said he had no ill intent on the play and denied suggestions he punched Myers' knee during the collision.

"I was just shooting", he said with a chuckle. "If you're not looking, it's going to happen".

"No, there was no punching motion".

Foligno won't face any league discipline which didn't sit well with Maurice.

"There's a wall around Minnesota and nobody knows anything about this team", Boudreau said.

Winnipeg is 54-31 straight up (SU) and has earned 17.8 units for moneyline bettors this season. 'They let a lot more go.

"You're not going to win like that".

"We have to play our absolute best", Boudreau said. "It's how we respond to the next one".

In order to claw back into this series, they must clean up their game and increase their speed. "The foundation is pretty well set".

Connor Hellebuyck, Winnipeg's 24-year-old starting goaltender, had an outstanding regular season as he finished with a 44-11-9 record plus a 2.36 goals-against average and.924 save percentage.

"I wouldn't say there's much of a difference, really", Hellebuyck said. "That was key. Going forward I think keeping that physicality and wearing them down, I think more space should open up for us like it did (Sunday) and we should get more chances".

"We gotta play the biggest game of the year".

"Being physical is one of our strong suits", said Jets defenceman Dustin Byfuglien.

"I'm going down for a blocked shot, and he's going by me and he pulls up at the last second", Foligno explained. He'll be ready for Game 4. We've had success here all year.

Just like the Jets believe they'll be the same team that bounced back all season.

The Winnipeg Jets arrived in St. Paul just hours before the start of Game 3 Sunday night, and certainly looked like a jet-lagged, travel-weary group as the Wild skated circles around them in a 6-2 win. Minnesota did have 101 points this season and was great on home ice.

The Jets didn't make excuses.

The Wild will look to continue their dominance on home ice this season in Game 4 Tuesday night. We were last night, we are tomorrow here. It was kind of flip-flopped tonight in Game 3.
