Syrian State TV Says Air Defenses Shoot Down Missiles

State-run news agency SANA reported air defenses had shot down some of the missiles targeting the base.

The Pentagon said there were no reports of US military activity, after reports from Syrian television that Syrian air defences responded to a missile attack over Homs which targeted Shayrat air base late Monday night.

Even the USA, along side the United Kingdom along with France, ran air-strikes on Saturday in Syria to punish the Assad regimen for an apparent chemical weapons attack from civilians.

A top Russian chemical weapons protection expert, Igor Kirillov said experts from Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons are set to visit Douma tomorrow.

State-run television showed images of an intercepted missile and called the attack an "aggression". Approximately nine missiles reportedly targeted the base; their source isn't yet clear.

Syria and its allies most recently accused Israel of launching a strike against Syria's T4 airbase in Homs, killing four Iranian military personnel.

Before the USA -led attack, Israeli warplanes had fired missiles on the T-4 airbase in the eastern countryside of Homs on April 9, killing 14 soldiers, including Iranian fighters.

Asked about the missile attack, an Israeli military spokesman told Reuters, "We don't comment on such reports".
