Please, snow more! Record-setting blizzard hits Mitchell area hard

The National Weather Service says at least 11 tornadoes traversed Arkansas over the weekend, and more could be confirmed in additional surveys. I spoke to them earlier today and they said due to the large scale of the damage and path of the storms it may take them until late in the day to have a full report.

However, a snow plow knocked down a power pole on US 2 near Hydraulic Falls Road in Iron Mountain about 9:45 a.m. Sunday, causing one electrical wire to fall to the ground and others to hang low over the road, Iron Mountain police and firefighters said.

The tornado reached speeds of 90 mph traveling more than six miles down Lakeland Road, starting at Jackson Prep and ending just past the Mill Creek subdivision north of Brandon.

The storm damaged a roof, a carport and trees in the area.
