Biratnagar: A bomb explosion has been reported near an Indian Embassy in Biratnagar, Nepal.

As per a report in the Hindu, no one was present inside the campus when the blast took place.

A spokesperson for the Ministry of External Affairs Raveesh Kumar said Indian embassy in Kathmandu was in touch with the Nepal government over the incident and that the security authorities in that country were investigating the matter.

The office was set up during the floods in Nepal and north Bihar in 2017. No one claimed responsibility and the motive was not known, he said.

Dainik Nepal quoted Superintendent of Police Arun Kumar BC as saying that because of the explosion, the office wall on the west side was slightly damaged. The investigating officers suspect that local political group members are behind the blast.
