President Donald Trump and his lawyer Michael Cohen on Friday asked a California federal judge to stay a lawsuit filed by Stephanie Clifford, known as porn star Stormy Daniels, because the men believe it could implicate Cohen's Fifth Amendment rights amid a pending criminal investigation.

U.S. President Donald Trump's personal lawyer Michael Cohen on Saturday denied a media report that the special counsel investigating alleged Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election has evidence Cohen visited Prague that year. In an interview Sunday with CNN's Jake Tapper on "State of the Union", Daniels' attorney Michael Avenatti said that Daniels will be attending Cohen's court hearing. The raids were partly a referral by Mr Mueller's office.

Trump's tweet on the matter comes nearly a week after Cohen was raided, with the president having previously made it clear he was deeply unhappy about the raid.

In the Clifford case, Cohen and Trump on Friday filed a joint application requesting a 90-day stay of the action.

Cohen has publicly declared that he would defend the President to the end. It could also constitute smoking gun evidence that the Trump campaign colluded with Russian Federation during the presidential campaign. President Trump similarly dismissed the allegation as false. The plan would have ended USA sanctions imposed on Russia in 2014 in response to its incursion into Ukraine in exchange for minimal Russian concessions. Prosecutors said the move is meant to ensure no documents are improperly used or breach client confidentiality.

USA to slap fresh sanctions on Russian Federation
Meanwhile, in a self-crediting gesture, US President Donald Trump tweeted, "Never said when an attack on Syria would take place". Ambassador Nebenzia denied Russian Federation had any role in it and said the incident was only beneficial for the rebels.

Tim Kaine, also appearing on "Face the Nation", slammed the air strikes as illegal and reckless without approval from Congress. That means an end to chemical weapons usage, the complete defeat of ISIS in Syria, and curbing Iranian influence in the area.

Democratic investigators for the House and Senate intelligence committees, which are conducting parallel inquiries into Russia's election interference, are skeptical about whether Cohen was truthful about his 2016 travels to Europe when they interviewed him last October, two people familiar with those investigations said.

Further, it alleges that Cohen, Kosachev and other attendees discussed "how deniable cash payments were to be made to hackers in Europe who had worked under Kremlin direction against the Clinton campaign".

A significant portion of Cohen's wealth has come through the taxi industry, and federal investigators are also said to be examining whether Cohen committed bank fraud when he secured loans using a taxi medallion business as collateral, the Washington Post reported.

When Trump took office, Cohen became Trump's personal attorney.
