Buhari to meet Trump April 30

In the statement, the White House said Mr Buhari would meet Mr Trump at Washington to discuss issues including "fighting terrorism" and economic growth.

The State Department under Trump approved the sale of 12 high-technology attack planes and equipment worth $600 million to Nigeria previous year after the Obama administration halted the sale because of accusations that Nigeria's air force was bombing civilians.

The meeting comes weeks after Rex Tillerson, then US secretary of state, visited Nigeria and other African countries in March only to be fired after his return to Washington. However the trip was cut short and Tillerson fired.
