TV and radio personality Howard Stern will induct Bon Jovi, and the New Jersey rockers are expected to perform at the ceremony with former guitarist Richie Sambora and ex-bassist Alec John Such. "I am considering doing one of the new songs and that is something that's just not done".

As has been the standard in recent years, HBO acquired the rights to be the sole network to air the Rock Hall induction. The Cars, founded in Boston in 1976, combined New Wave and classic rock sounds. Felicia Collins, best known has a member of the band on "Late Show with David Letterman", also wowed the audience when she performed a tribute to Tharpe.

Flowers will deliver the induction speech to welcome The Cars into the Hall.

Other artists who will be inducted are Dire Straits, Nina Simone and the Moody Blues.

Desmond Child, who co-wrote some of the band's biggest hits, says he'd "love to see them back together".
