The Shenmue 1 & 2 collection is real and coming this year

Sega has just announced that they will be bringing over both Shenmue I & II to the PS4, Xbox One, and PC. The title is set in a real-time open world that that includes proper day-and-night cycles and weather changes. Ryo ventures deeper into the criminal underworld, meeting martial arts masters who aid him on his journey and offer insight into his father's death, and unravels the mysteries of the Dragon Mirror that his father kept hidden.

We're told that the re-releases will stay true to the original and will come with the original feature set including jujitsu combat, investigative elements, RPG elements, and mini games.

London, England - April 13, 2018 - SEGA® Europe proud to announce that the pioneering epic saga Shenmue™ I & II is to be re-released for a new generation. According to the publisher, both games will feature Japanese and English voice overs, the choice of classic or modern controls and more.

Unfortunately, its release on the the doomed Dreamcast console meant that few people played it, or its sequel, in their original forms, although Shenmue II did see a further release on the original Xbox.

The physical and digital editions will be available to pre-order from first party stores, Steam and United States and EMEA retailers soon.
