Apple started trial production of iPhone 6s Plus in Bengaluru

According to the report, Wistron (Apple's supply partner) has also started a trial run of assembling the iPhone 6s Plus (5.5 inch model), while the full-fledged process will begin after some time.

Recent Counterpoint research revealed that the iPhone 6 series contributes to nearly one-third of total sales of iPhones in India in 2017, as compared to less than 15 percent generated from iPhone SE, the only Apple smartphone model to be locally assembled in the Wistron plant till now. This will also allow the iPhone to fall in the same price segment as a OnePlus phone or some Samsung phones.

Apple shares are up 0.4% to $174.87. Now, the company has already begun the trial production of iPhone 6s Plus which was one of the best selling models in the country.

Research indicates that the iPhone 6 series contributes to one-third of all iPhone sales in India, more than the 15% claimed by the iPhone SE. It might soon be time for the iPhone 6S Plus to be similarly shielded from import tax fluctuations. "Eventually, as the local capacity gains scale the prices will get corrected". He added that Apple will need to look into components and SMT manufacturing in order to insulate itself from price hikes due to customs duties.
