Mohammed Shami injured in road accident, receives head injuries, stitches

Dehradun: Indian fast bowler Mohammad Shami was injured in a road accident on Sunday when he was on his way to New Delhi from Dehradun, police said. The incident happened at about 5:30 am when Shami was travelling from Dehradun to Delhi. Shami was leaving Dehradun in the morning and was part of a convoy where one of the cars met with an accident.

Shami, Umesh Kumar and the vehicle driver were all injured in the accident.

Media reports said Shami sustained minor head injuries. He is now recuperating in Dehradun, where he had travelled to prepare for the Indian Premier League at the Abhimanyu Cricket Academy, run by Easwaran, the father of Abhimanyu Easwaran, the Bengal batsman.

Shami is fine now and taking rest in Dehradun, sources confirmed.

Mohammed Shami has been a subject of lot of controversies ranging from match fixing allegations to allegations related to extra-marital affairs in recent times.

Moreover, recently after getting the clean chit from BCCI, Shami was seen back in action and practising.
