Nawazuddin's lawyer accuses crime branch of illegal arrest

In a fresh twist of events involving Bollywood actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui, who has been in the news for his alleged role in the CDR scam, Nawaz's Lawyer has been arrested, reports Aaj Tak.

Nawazuddin Siddiqui is an acclaimed actor known for his multiple award wins and prominent support roles in hit movies.

The investigation is being supervised by Thane Police Commissioner Parambir Singh.

Till date, reportedly, Thane's crime branch has arrested 12 people in connection with illegally sourcing call data records. He was summoned as a witness & has assured cooperation.

Nawaz's lawyer Rizwan Siddique has been arrested and remanded in custody till March 23. Siddiqui is representing actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui in a case pertaining to spying on the actor's wife. Client's confidential data is also seized by police without any notice and without any court order.

Despite my statement being recorded on the 23rd of February 2018 in the presence of my client's brother Mr. Shamasuddin Siddiqui they did not corroborate the said statement with my client nor did they bother to follow up with my said client for reasons best known to the police. "We'll challenge it in the high court", ANI quoted Rizwan Merchant, Rizwan Siddiqui's lawyer, as saying.

The police officer also pointed out that in one case, one of the arrested got the data on his mobile erased at a remote location and they came to know about the same procedure from it only.
