Black Panther has broken multiple box office records in its opening weekend both in the U.S. and globally, far exceeding projections that had been made about the much-anticipated film.

Disney is already projecting a $218.2 million four-day domestic total and $361 million worldwide, blowing past expectations.

The movie's opening weekend haul narrowly beats out Avengers: Age of Ultron to earn the second biggest opening weekend for a Marvel movie ever, after only 2012's The Avengers, which debuted to $207.4 million.

Marvel Studios' Black Panther opened Wednesday, Feb 14 in the Philippines and scored the year's biggest first-day gross to-date with a staggering P45.10-M in box-office sales.

Black Panther stars Chadwick Boseman as T'Challa and Lupita Nyong'o as Nakia and is directed by Ryan Coogler. The movie earned a rare A+ CinemaScore from audiences, becoming only the second Marvel movie to do so, after The Avengers. An audience survey by comScore/Screen Engine's PostTrak found that moviegoers were 37% African-American, 35% white, 18% Hispanic, 5% Asian and 5% other ethnicities.

Marvel's Black Panther has become one of the highest grossing opening weekends in the MCU.

Outside the states, Black Panther is tracking for another $190 million, a success story may ease the transition into a more diverse Hollywood. The film reportedly cost $200 million to make.

Jordan, threatens to overthrow him and seize control over the fictional African nation's stores of vibranium - a powerful resource that can be fused into clothing and body tissue for super-strength.

Since then, Larson has been re-tweeting posts from around the world which have taken over her page, connecting people offering to pay for Black Panther tickets with those who might not be able to afford them.
