Nicolas Cage Finally Gets to Play Superman, 20 Years After Failed Movie

That's right, Nicolas Cage has finally fulfilled his dream of playing Clark Kent and his heroic alter-ego. And he lobbied hard to be cast in the lead role of Superman Lives, an aborted project from the late 90s that would have pitted Superman (Cage) against Brainiac.

DC's live-action movies have succumbed to doom and gloom lately, but Teen Titans Go to the Movies might reverse all that. Along the way, they will encounter other superheroes like Superman, Wonder Woman (Halsey) and Green Lantern (Lil Yachty). Now, the Academy Award victor is finally getting his chance and will voice the hero in the upcoming Teen Titans GO! to the Movies (via USA Today). Existing in the same continuity as their insane yet still active show on Cartoon Network, the Teen Titans find out that other DC superheroes seem to have films produced, so they seek out the flawless director for their debut on the big screen, but an old enemy has other ideas planned for them.

If you doubted his fanboy credentials, the actor named his son Kal-El (Clark's Kryptonian birthname), once owned a rare issue of Superman's 1938 comic debut - though sold it for $2.1 million (£1.5 million).

"So we felt a great responsibility to find a voice for each character that would not only suit the role, but the playful tone of the Titans, and we're thrilled with our cameo cast". That stunt casting makes us wonder who will voice the rest of the Justice League in this film. And he owes it all to....the Teen Titans. It is a very good movie and Cage is a great actor. But de facto leader Robin is determined to remedy the situation, and be seen as a star instead of a sidekick.

The film will be released on July 27th, 2018. With some madcap ideas and a few musical numbers ready to bust out, the Titans head to Tinsel Town to persuade a hotshot director (Kristen) to help. The movie is directed by longtime series writers and producers Aaron Horvath and Peter Rida Michail.
