While this version of Android Oreo for the LG V30 does include security updates up to the February 1 patch, the update only bumps the Android version of the phone to 8.0.0, despite a version 8.1 already available for some time now.

The company has announced the Android Oreo update for Xperia R1 and Xperia R1 Plus on its official Twitter handle.

Android 8.0 Oreo transports a slew of exciting features, including support for Picture-in-Picture (PiP), notification channels and adaptive icons, as well as a plethora of bug fixes, stability improvements and an exciting new Easter egg.

Sony launched the mid-range smartphones, the Xperia R1 and Xperia R1 Plus, exclusively for the Indian market in October past year. The update will also bring a relatively new Android security patch to the two mid-range handsets. It will also receive other features like a contextual menu for app shortcuts, reminders for unfinished tasks and more. The update is now being rolled out over-the-air and will soon go live for users in all regions across the country. The units were introduced in India with different RAM and storage.
