With the No. 5 overall pick in the upcoming draft, it has been widely speculated that the Broncos could select a quarterback, but they could opt to go in a different direction with Keenum coming to town.

After stints with both the Houston Texans and Los Angeles Rams, Keenum seemed to turn a corner last season, playing at a Pro Bowl level despite being thrust into the starting lineup.

Sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter the Broncos will reel in the 30-year-old Keenum to be their quarterback of the present and future when free agency officially opens Wednesday.

Siemian again handily beat out Lynch last summer, but the Broncos would cycle through their trio of homegrown QBs during a 5-11 season that almost cost rookie head coach Vance Joseph his job.

Trevor Siemian, Brock Osweiler and Paxton Lynch all started games for the Broncos, the latter pair failing to win in any of their appearances in a miserable first year for head coach Vance Joseph. Starting in 14 games last season, Keenum threw for 3,547 yards, 22 touchdowns and seven interceptions.

Republicans in Congress, businesses brace for tariffs
Just like all tax cuts for "the rich" are not bad, free trade/fair trade is not all good - especially if it's not really FAIR. Senator Pat Roberts, the Kansas Republican, described the tariffs as a "tax on consumers" in a statement Thursday night.

British counter-terrorism unit investigates death of late tycoon Berezovsky's associate
United Kingdom counter-terror police are investigating the "unexplained death" of a Russian businessman in London. In recent years, Glushkov lived in the United Kingdom as he had been granted political asylum there in 2010.

That would leave the Vikings, Cardinals and Jets vying to land ex-Washington Redskins quarterback Kirk Cousins, who is expected to sign a record-breaking contract this week.

Keenum is expected to become the first of the high-profile quarterbacks in the open market to agree to a deal.

Manning had a spectacular closing chapter in Denver, leading the Broncos to the playoffs in all four of his seasons, reaching two Super Bowls and winning one.

"Even with Peyton, we weren't a for-sure thing with Peyton, " Elway said.

Kubiak gave Keenum his start in the National Football League, signing him to the Houston Texans' practice squad after he went undrafted in 2012. And if there's one position they need an upgrade at, it's under center. "When you get opportunities like this, you've got to take advantage of them, so we're going to take advantage of it". It is not certain yet what sort of contract that Keenum, who made $2 million last season, will get. That doesn't all go on the players. I feel like we can get right back in the thick of the things rather quickly.
