Technical problem leads to long delays for Air Canada flights

Air Canada experienced a system-wide interruption at its customer contact centre and that caused delays for passengers travelling through Calgary's airport.

Officials say they have implemented temporary measures to "maintain a limited operation" while the airline's IT department works to identify the issue and restore service.

Those at the Regina Airport who are either leaving or flying out on an Air Canada flight may want to check on the status of their flight.

Air Canada confirmed things were back online on Twitter Monday afternoon.

Passengers are reporting long lines at the airport and it appears some flights are grounded until further notice.

As Air Canada customers raised concerns about the situation, Toronto's Pearson International Airport also told customers over Twitter the airline was experiencing IT issues and that it was affecting flight schedules.

Air Canada is experiencing a network outage nationwide, and departing passengers are being checked in manually, which is causing a bit of congestion in the terminal.

The company apologized for the inconvenience and thanked customers for their patience.
