The OnePlus 5T has been updated to Android 8.1 Oreo, but only if you're on the Open Beta program. With the new software update coming in, OnePlus 5T users receive a handful of new features including the new auto pick up gesture, general bug fixes and improvements and more.

Now, same will be the case with the OnePlus 6 from OnePlus as well as it has barely been 4 months since the launch of the OnePlus 5T and we are already starting to get renders, images as well as leaks regarding the next smartphone from OnePlus.

OnePlus has been regular with its software updates, and notably rolled out Android Oreo 8.0 to the OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T well before the new version made it to the new OnePlus 5 and OnePlus 5T.

Apart from the change in the software version and Android patch level, the differences in Open Beta 4 (for the OnePlus 5T) and Open Beta 6 (for the OnePlus 5) are functional and related to the Oxygen OS overlay. Further, for the OnePlus 5T, the update also brings optimized full-screen gesture support.

After the software update, OnePlus 5T users get a new gaming mode and also add new optimizations in gaming mode for immersive gaming experience including power saving and pausing adaptive brightness. It also comes with OnePlus Switch feature to allow users to migrate application data, which will ensure customers can seamlessly switch between device.

If you're a OnePlus Open Beta user you may have already received the new build as an OTA. It is also advisable to free 3GB of storage space but you need not have to worry because OnePlus devices carry huge space by default. The downloads are available at http://downloads.oneplus.net/. According to the changelog provided by OnePlus, there are some changes with the Phone app. For instance, the new update enable users to answer incoming calls, just by raising the phone. If a user wants to go back to the stable build, then they have to once again do a full install and clean flash, which means wiping off all the data and cache.
