Oklahoma finished the season 18-13, losing to Oklahoma State in the opening round of the Big 12 Tournament last week in Kansas City. That gave them an advantage over numerous other teams on the bubble. The Rams won the league's regular season title, but fell to Davidson by a point in the league's tournament title game.

Rhode Island lost the A-10 Championship game to third-seeded Davidson 58-57 on Sunday afternoon, giving the Wildcats the A-10's automatic bid. Its RPI dropped to No. 48, but after playing one of the toughest schedules, the Sooners were rewarded with their fifth NCAA tournament appearance in coach Lon Kruger's 7 seasons.

That wasn't enough to keep the Sooners - and star point guard Trae Young, the nation's leader in both scoring and assists - out of the tournament.
