They freed up a ton of a cap space and received a solid draft pick in the process.

The people confirmed the agreement to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because under NFL rules, no trade can be completed until Wednesday, the start of the league's new year.

This opens the door for real-run possibilities with those first two picks. Dumervil had 6.5 sacks in a limited role last season, 3.5 more than anyone else on the team.

Suddenly, the Browns have a dynamic receiving corps, at least on paper, with Landry joining 2013 All-Pro selection Josh Gordon.

The trade was among a flurry Friday by the Browns. While the Browns get an improvement at quarterback from last season, the Bills can now focus on who to go after in either free agency or the draft.

The Cleveland Browns may think they got a steal in Taylor.

The 34-year-old Jones was scheduled to earn $5.5 million in 2018 in his option year. Being more of a running quarterback helped the Bills in situations, but also cost them big games.

Landry's tenure in Miami was tumultuous. He was ejected in the fourth quarter of the season finale, a loss to Buffalo, and coach Adam Gase said the episode was embarrassing and "extremely bad".

The last reports out of Nashville were that the Titans hadn't reached out about acquiring the 2017 National Football League leader in receptions. He caught 112 passes for 987 yards and nine touchdowns last season, 94 passes for 1,136 yards and four touchdowns in 2016 and 110 passes for 1,157 yards and four touchdowns in 2015. Receivers Kenny Stills and DeVante Parker are expected to return, along with quarterback Ryan Tannehill, who missed all of 2017 because of a knee injury. Taylor will be a $16 million cap hit for Cleveland this season before becoming a free agent in 2018. Taylor's presence will allow the rookie quarterback to learn by watching from the sideline.

In truth, Kizer's days appeared numbered in Cleveland as the team was expected to target a veteran in free agency - before getting Taylor, that is - and the Browns will likely use the No. 1 overall pick in this year's draft on a QB.

This transaction gives the Bills the 21st, 22nd, 53rd, 56th, 65th, 96th, 121st, 158th and 166th pick in the 2018 draft.

Remember when Browns GM John Dorsey took some heat for his comment about the previous regime not landing "real players" in Cleveland?

The Baltimore Ravens, an AFC North foe of the Browns, were among the other teams interested making a move for Landry, the Miami Herald reported.
