Style similarities to previous toy ranges, such as Nintendo amiibo and Disney Infinity, are readily apparent. Although it seems as if it will continue to stay king for some time, it should be noted that PlayStation has just revealed its own new line of collectable figurines. In addition, the small base where the Totaku are supported is in the shape of a cross and can be joined to the other by interlocking, forming fun scenarios with your favorite video game characters.

PlayStation's figure line sees some of the platform's favourite heroes immortalised in collectable form, including the likes of Crash Bandicoot, Bloodborne's Hunter, God of War's Kratos, Tekken's Heihachi, Parappa The Rapper, LittleBigPlanet's Sackboy and a racing ship from F-Zero.

The non-functional figures stand just under four inches tall and will retail for around $10 each. The first wave of figures will be released on March 23 and can be preordered now exclusively from Gamestop's website for $9.99 each.

The figures are not created by Sony themselves, and they definitely don't work the same way Nintendo's amiibo or Activision's Skylanders do.

The Totaku Collection is launching with seven figures drawing from some of the PlayStation's earliest game series to its most recent. This is a figurine series mean only for collectors. That might be an even bigger reason to collect one or two of them!
