Apple to Axe Current iPhone X After Slow Sales

It only went on sale less than 6 months ago and is still regarded by some as the must have phone but Apple is about to cease production of the iPhone X, a normally well placed and credible source has claimed. According to Kuo, the latest model of the iPhone might be at the end of its journey by Summer 2018.

Prosecutors in South Korea's capital of Seoul said on Friday that they plan to investigate allegations tech giant Apple deliberately slowed down older models of iPhone to push customers towards purchasing pricier newer versions, the Korea Herald reported.

Apple tends to introduce new iPhones in September so the cancellation of its flagship mobile could be meant to make way for a new model.

The notch is necessary because it contains the Face ID camera which unlocks the device.

According to Sinolink Securities analyst Zhang Bin, shipments could be as low as 35 million in the first quarter of this year - roughly 10 million less than previously estimated. "The moderating interest seems to reflect the higher price of the iPhone X and/or lack of compelling new features as the new iPhones collectively appear to have had only limited impact on C4Q17 sales", Cowen analysts said.

Apple suppliers that were most hit included Genius Electronic Optical which dropped 2.4 per cent on Tuesday to take its losses this week to 11.4 per cent.
