If you want to get an unlimited plan through Verizon Wireless, you have two main choices - Go Unlimited and Beyond Unlimited. And although texts and calls are unlimited under usual circumstances, it might not be if more than half of your text, talk and data usage in a 60-day period is in Canada or Mexico.

Are you planning a jaunt to Canada or Mexico? As of next Friday, the Go Unlimited plan is getting a little more compelling, thanks to the inclusion of that free LTE data in Mexico and Canada for no extra cost.

The only real catch to this Mexico and Canada addition is that if you go to those countries on both the Go and Beyond Unlimited plans, your 4G data speeds will be limited to just 500 MB per day. Go Unlimited customers also get unlimited calling from the USA to Mexico and Canada at no extra cost. Beyond Unlimited customers should get consistently high-speed data until they hit a 22GB-per-month threshold, after which they're subject to deprioritization like everyone else.

This feature mimics the way that worldwide travel is set up in Beyond Unlimited, the pricier of Verizon's three recent unlimited plan options among those available to individuals and families. However, Big Red is allowing Go Unlimited subscribers to match Beyond Unlimited users with one particular feature. That plan clocks in at $75/month versus Beyond Unlimited's $85/month price, though with restrictions, such as "dvd-quality" video streaming versus actual HD quality over mobile. Go Unlimited costs $160 or $40 per person each month for a family of four enrolled in Auto Pay.
