Although Drake claimed to be taking time off to focus on other projects, the release of these two songs may detour those plans.

Continuing to express his loyalty to his inner circle, "God's Plan" is also Drake feeling like he needs to have separation from those outside of his camp because so many people want something from him, they always have an ulterior motive in his eyes. The tracks follow his previously released song "Signs", which arrived in June as part of the Louis Vuitton show at Paris Fashion Week.
