J&K: IED defused on national highway

Two persons were injured on Saturday when security forces fired on a group of protesters in the outskirts of Srinagar, police said.

An official said that the IED weighing almost five kilograms was planted by the militants in HMT area of Srinagar. "The engineering squad of the army then defused the bomb", Rajesh Kumar, Commanding Officer told ANI in an interview. "And during the operation, an IED was detected on a road", Yadav said. Officials said that timely detection averted a major tragedy.

Recently, four policemen were killed in a powerful IED explosion in Sopore town in north Kashmir's Baramulla district.
