Canadiens F Danault hit in head by Chara slap shot

Things took a scary turn at the Bell Centre during Saturday's game between the Boston Bruins and Montreal Canadiens when Habs center Phillip Danault took a nasty one-timer to the face from Zdeno Chara.

With less than two minutes remaining in the second period, Chara one-timed a puck that sailed on him and caught Danault around the earpiece of his helmet.

The Canadiens issued a statement during the third period that said: "Danault suffered a head injury".

Chara and other players from both teams gathered around Danault as he was attended by medical staff.

Selected by the Chicago Blackhawks with the 26th overall pick in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft, Danault made his NHL debut with the Blackhawks during the 2014-15 season.

Danault has appeared in 43 games for the Canadiens this season, tallying seven goals, 16 assists and a minus-3 plus/minus rating. He usually plays on a top line with Max Pacioretty.
