Bella Emberg dies - Russ Abbot pays tribute to 'comedy talent'

Bella Emberg, the British comic actress best known for her role in The Russ Abbot Show, has died aged 80, her agent confirmed last night.

He adde: 'She was not only a great sport but a huge comedy talent.

The Brighton-born actress will be most known for her role as Blunder Woman in the 1980s TV programme The Russ Abbot Show.

Paul Chuckle, star of the Chuckle Brothers, wrote online: "Just heard".

Abbot said she was 'a genuinely amusing woman, but most of all a woman of huge warmth and generosity.

Dennis, who appeared on The Russ Abbot Show, shared a photo of himself with Emberg on Twitter, saying he was "so sad" to lose a "funny, lovely friend".

Speaking a year ago in an interview with The Mirror, Emberg recalled trying on the Blunder Woman costume for the first time.

She admitted in the same interview that taking on the role of Blunder Woman made it harder her to be cast in other shows, but she always viewed the character as a blessing rather than a curse. I prefer to think of her as Wonderwoman to Blunderwoman.

Emberg had recently finished filming her part on the new Sky One comedy In The Long Run, which has been created by Idris Elba and is due to premiere later this year. A amusing, lovely friend.
