Uriah Hall vs. Vitor Belfort will no longer be taking place at UFC Fight Night 124 after the former failed to appear at the early weigh-ins Saturday morning in St. Louis, Mo. - Vitor Belfort speaking on the UFC Unfiltered podcast transcribed via MMA NYTT. "After that, I will put my body to rest".

"The Phenom" is 2-2 (1 no contest) in his last five fights, most recently putting an end to a three-fight winless streak at UFC 212 last June when he defeated Nate Marquardt via unanimous decision.

By all accounts, Belfort is entering the final fight on his current UFC contract and he's often talked about the promotion starting some sort of "legends league" where competitors at an older age could still compete without facing young, up and coming talent.

Belfort's career may have had its controversy, but the man is a pioneer of the sport for both Brazilian and North American MMA.

"This is it breaking news", Belfort added. I've got kids and I want to be able to, I think I donate a lot of time in a lot of stuff to the sport and I think it's time. That's what I like. Life is about seasons and you've got to know the seasons.

Rabada Ranked Number 1 Test Bowler by ICC
I have been happy with the role I have been given, which is to try and get wickets and defend at the same time. Its that dream when you start playing the game to be the No. 1 bowler in the world.

However, when Belfort was on, he was the epitome of fast-twitch muscle violence; his head kick knockouts of Luke Rockhold, Michael Bisping, and Dan Henderson and his iconic 44-second knockout of Wanderlei Silva will forever remain etched in the annals of UFC knockout highlight reels. I think I did more than enough. Sometimes I flashback and say, 'Wow I'm still doing this. I have other things, I have a business of my own, I developed a system, I developed a group class training system that we're going to franchise.

"I'm still relevant to the sport, but I need to walk away".

At 40, Belfort has been competing professionally in mixed martial arts for almost 22 years after starting his career as a teenager.

After Belfort tipped the scales and successfully made weight, it was announced that Hall wouldn't weigh in and the fight was off.
