With the 2018 Olympics in Pyeongchang less than a month away, South Korea continues to offer olive branches to their northern neighbors.

Kim and Kam would also represent South Korea in the team event, but may have to cede their spot to the North Korean pair of Ryom Tae-ok and Kim Ju-sik should the Koreas agree to field a unified team in figure skating. South Korea said Saturday that North Korea proposed that their talks next week address a North Korean art troupe's visit to the Pyeongchang Winter Olympics in the South, rather than the participation of the nation's athletes. Joining teams would make that issue moot and allow even more North Korean athletes to compete.

South Korea has qualified skaters in ice dance, men's singles and women's singles.

Vice President Mike Pence and second lady Karen Pence will lead the US delegation to the Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, South Korea, next month, a senior White House official said Wednesday. The two teams even played each other, with the South defeating the North 3-0 in division play.

Roh said he would seek International Olympic Committee support for the ice hockey proposal and hoped other countries taking part in the competition would give a unified Korean team their blessing. The North has yet to respond to that offer as well.
