Heading into next week, temperatures are going to warm up quickly with a high of 60 degrees on Monday, he said.

Tonight, however, the weather service says to expect a low of around 2 with cloudy conditions and a 30 percent chance of snow.

In New Hampshire, state safety officials encouraged residents to clear drains, culverts and roofs of snow, ice and debris to prevent possible flooding and damage.

A big concern is that temperatures in north and parts of central Alabama will be very cold when the precipitation gets here, and the weather service said it will be "more than cold enough for significant impacts to roadways".

"(Todays) temperatures should be a high of 58 degrees and a low of 28 degrees", he said. Low around 36. South wind 6 to 10 miles per hour.

The cold front does not go far offshore on Sunday, perhaps lingering close enough for snow showers in eastern New England, otherwise cold and dry with sunny breaks, high temperatures in the teens and 20s. More rain is forecast Thursday night with lows in the upper 40s.

We dabble with subzero temps again Sunday night, with daytime highs Sunday and Monday around 10°.

Rain will transition to a wintry mix of sleet, freezing rain and then snow, forecasters said.

Welcome back to winter.
