National Human Trafficking Awareness day observed in Wausau

The fundraiser is continuing all month long, as part of January being "National Slavery and Human Trafficking Prevention Month".

Survivors of human trafficking will be on hand to share their stories with hundreds of people from law enforcement, the justice system, educational institutions, social service agencies and other advocacy organizations.

Other nonprofits seek to stem the flow of human trafficking around the world and are hard at work doing so.

Thursday was National Human Trafficking Awareness Day and local officials said it can happen in our community. We do have a drug and opioid issue, and we are surrounded borders and we also have a lot of refugees here.
