"It is gratifying that PSLV-C40 was successfully launched after the last event of PSLV-C39 marginally went out in the midst due to non-separation of the heat shield that failed to release the satellite in orbit". In the succeeding seven minutes, the Cartosat-2 series satellite, INS-1C and 28 customer satellites successfully separated from the PSLV in a predetermined sequence.

After the successful launch of PSLV-C40 on Friday, scientists and directors of Isro units here, including Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre (VSSC) and Liquid Propulsion Systems Centre (LPSC), are back.

The space agency's workhorse rocket Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV-C40) placed all the 31 satellites including its main payload Cartosat-2 Series into its respective orbit after blasting off at 9:29 am from the first launch pad of the spaceport.

India launched its 100th indigenously made satellite yesterday, as Prime Minister Narendra Modi seeks to project the country as a global low-priced provider of services in space. "This success in the New Year will bring benefits of the country's rapid strides in space technology to our citizens, farmers, fishermen etc", tweeted Narendra Modi, India's Prime Minister.

Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre (VSSC) Director K Sivan, who has been named the successor to Kumar, noted that many worldwide customers approached the ISRO for the launch immediately after the PSLV-C39 failure and it showed the confidence that they have in the agency's workhorse launch vehicle. "It launched 31 satellites, including three Indian and 28 commercial satellites".

India will use its latest satellites for better border surveillance and to obtain high-resolution images of the earth.

Experts have said that the PSLV-C40 is a very sophisticated surveillance tool.

"The scientists at ISRO have carved a special place in the astronomical space". In February 2017, ISRO set a world record for sending 104 satellites on a single rocket. India´s space programme has a budget of around $4 billion and Modi´s government hopes the latest launches will improve its prospects of winning a larger share of the more than $300 billion global space industry.

2018 is going to be one of the most ambitious years for ISRO as it plans to launch a minimum of one satellite every month.

The launch of the second national probe to the Moon: Chandrayaan-2 (lunar vehicle, in Sanskrit) in March 2019, is among the most striking proposals.
