Health secretary: Funding for CHIP will last until February in Delaware

A new Congressional Budget Office report shows that extending the Children's Health Insurance Program for 10 years, rather than the proposed five, would save the federal government $6 billion.

A San Antonio pediatrician, Dr. Carmen Garza, is advising parents to be sure to keep their children's asthma medications and other prescriptions current and to fill any refills they can so that they have vital medicines if CHIP expires. But legislators say they've nearly reached a funding agreement. "We find it to be fundamental for health care provision in Louisiana, and we're hopeful that it's renewed as soon as possible", Tuozzolo said. Orrin Hatch, who heads the Senate's Finance Committee, CBO Director Keith Hall said that a five-year extension of CHIP would cost the government $800 million over a 10-year period.

In a bipartisan appeal on behalf of the National Governors Association, Republican Gov. Charlie Baker of MA and Democratic Gov. Kate Brown of OR called on Congress - after it allowed CHIP and community health center funding to lapse a year ago - to consider the "urgent needs of states and families" by restoring money.

In December, state officials believed DE would run out of funding by January 31.

Before Congress acted last month, the Medicaid and CHIP Payment and Access Commission, which advises Congress, had projected that Arizona, the District of Columbia, Minnesota and North Carolina would exhaust CHIP funding by December 31. Under the pool's restrictions, states with extra money would have to give it to states that are running low.

COLD FRONT COMING: As rain passes, colder temps will follow
The National Weather Service calls for possible frozen precipitation, with sleet or snow, and accumulations up to an inch. Showers are passing through this evening, watch out for some ponding on some area roads with some of the snow melt.

Building the transportation mobility cloud
Each of those driverless cars will be connected to Ford's cloud, allowing partners like Lyft to manage self-driving fleets. This year it was Chief Executive Jim Hackett on stage, but he continues what has become a Ford tradition at the event.

Wisconsin Teacher Reportedly Asks Students To List "3 Good Reasons For Slavery"
But there were those who justified the assignment and the teacher, saying that it was supposed to develop critical thinking... The school's principal, Jim Van Dellen , and the senior pastor, Andrew Steinke, did not return calls from the AP yesterday.

Had that accident happened this year, though, Natali, 50, of Aliquippa, Pa., might be scrambling. Many can not afford coverage in the private market.

"This is a critical program that serves thousands of Alaskans, and I remain committed to finding a comprehensive and long-term solution for it", Rep. Don Young said.

"These are kids", Walker said. "We should stop the uncertainty and permanently extend CHIP". The group practice hasn't changed any scheduling for CHIP patients, but he said "families are terrified" about the coverage disappearing.

Pennsylvania officials sent a notice to CHIP providers in late December - who then sent it to enrollees - saying it would have to end the program in March unless Congress acts. "They might not have a family physician, or a clear support system". "They seem so cavalier about it", she said. By March, according to a new report from Georgetown University, almost half of all states will exhaust all of their federal funding.

The federal government paid almost $14.5 billion for CHIP expenses in fiscal 2016, according to the Kaiser Family Foundation.
