Samsung's smartphone for this year, the Galaxy S9, will be shown at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona towards the end of next month.

We reported that Samsung had their eyes set on a March release for their next phone in their Galaxy flagship series. The difference this year, according to sources, is that the Samsung not only showed, in utmost secrecy of course, a more refined device than last year's, it also cast its net wider, seeking feedback from a wider range of potential customers.

Samsung will launch the Galaxy S9 at MWC in February.

The Galaxy S9 is expected to be almost identical to its predecessor, with the rear fingerprint sensor moved to below the camera, rather than its current, position of off to one side. Since the design will likely stay more or less the same as the Galaxy S8, chances are Samsung may use a setup similar to how a certain HTC U11 offers, meaning, the earpiece would double as a secondary speaker. As to what we can expect from Samsung's next flagship phone?

That said, the retail box also mentions 64 GB of internal storage on the S9 along with 4 GB RAM.

The specs detail a Quad HD+ Super AMOLED display, with the diagonal either being 5.6in or 5.8in depending on how you measure it. The Galaxy S9 is also said to include AKG tuned earphones in the box.

Those wanting to upgrade to the new Galaxy S9 haven't got long to wait.

New processor, improved photography and an updated position for the fingerprint scanner are all rumoured along with the inclusion of a dual-lens rear snapper on the larger S9+ model. It reveals a decent amount of information, including a "Super Speed" camera with an aperture of f/1.5, 'Super Slow-mo, ' and stereo speakers that have been tuned by AKG.
