Almost two decades ago, the handgun used to shoot Tupac Shakur to his death was found in a backyard in Compton, CA.

All this info was revealed in a police document dug up by producers of the A&E docu-series, Who Killed Tupac?

It claims that an A.40 caliber Glock gun was found by a local resident in his backyard in 1998, which he reported to police. Two years later, L.A. County Sheriff's Dept. took over law enforcement of Compton, and 3,800 confiscated - including that handgun - were transferred to the LASD. According to the doc, he recognized the address where the gun was found as the home of the girlfriend of a prominent Crip member [.] known to have beef with Pac.

One possible suspect, identified in 2002 by an LA Times investigation, was Orlando Anderson, a member of the Southside Crips gang. Ballistic test results conducted on the gun matched the results of the weapon used to kill 2Pac.

Tupac's brother Mopreme Shakur said in a clip of the final episode of "Who Killed Tupac" that he was never told investigators found the gun.

Instead of the murder weapon being sent to Las Vegas, where the Ghetto Gospel rapper's murder was still unsolved, a federal prosecutor assigned to the case highlighted concerns that the discovery might alert potential conspirators.

According to experts interviewed in Who Killed Tupac?, the gun was never transferred to the LVPD and details of the revelation were never spelled out in fear of igniting rented gang violence in the mid-2000s.

But, despite the theories, no one actually knows exactly what happened, which means that any new information is extremely interesting - particularly if it suggests that findings have been kept out of public knowledge.

But the identity of Tupac's killer has remained a mystery - because the cops didn't care to look any further, the documentary claimed. Tupac murder weapon pops up in a yard connected to Anderson's friend.
