Actress Mira Sorvino says she "burst out crying" after director Peter Jackson revealed that Harvey Weinstein blacklisted her and Ashley Judd from Hollywood - and it cost her a role in "The Lord of the Rings".

Recently, Peter Jackson confirmed Mira Sorvino's Harvey Weinstein allegations.

The unidentified NBC employee whose accusation of "inappropriate sexual behavior" led to former "Today" anchor Matt Lauer, 59, getting fired at the end of November is "terrified" people will figure out it's her, according to her attorney, Ari Wilkenfeld. "They weren't the type of guys I wanted to work with - so I haven't", he said. In the past, the "Gladiator" star has on occasion been accompanied by hired "sober coaches", though it's unclear if the women in question were acting in that capacity or not. He continued in the Stuff article, "I now suspect we were fed false information about both of these talented women - and as a direct result their names were removed from our casting list".

He's denied the claims he blacklisted them from the film and other projects.

"There it is, confirmation that Harvey Weinstein derailed my career, something I suspected but was unsure", she said.

Jackson also claims he had "no direct experience or knowledge" of Weinstein's alleged misconduct back then.

"Secondly, until Ashley Judd wrote a piece for Variety two years ago, no one at the Company knew that she had a complaint and she was cast in two other films by Mr. Weinstein ["Frida" and "Crossing Over"] and Mira Sorvino was always considered for other films as well".

You can thank Harvey Weinstein for that.

The Lord of the Rings series later moved from Miramax to New Line Cinema for production.

Jackson said in the late 1990s Judd and Sorvino were in the running for roles in his Tolkien blockbuster before Weinstein's Miramax Films stepped in.

He also added that Sorvino called Weinstein earlier this year to ask if her husband could join the cast of his Seal team TV project "Six".

Judd, responding on Twitter on Friday, recalled having detailed talks with Jackson about "Lord of the Rings" but "then I abruptly never heard from him again".

Jackson noted that the Lord of the Rings trilogy bears Weinstein and Miramax's stamp, but that "he was not involved in the movies we ended up making". Weinstein's harassment, Hayek says, ranged from him asking to her to take a shower to him to offers of massages and oral sex.

Jackson said he had "no direct experience or knowledge of the sexual allegations" against Weinstein but had earlier made a conscious decision to never work with him or his brother again, saying both were hard to work with.

The reports have prompted messages of support for Sorvino and Judd from fans and peers on Twitter while many women have spoken about how their careers were similarly stalled after they rejected unwanted advances.

Several of the women Weinstein hurt, including television anchor Lauren Sivan, expressed that they were afraid to speak out against him, initially, because of what might happen to their careers.
