India had to defend a total of 164 in 21 overs against Australia in the first one-day worldwide in Chennai after the match was curtailed due to rain.

"If they would have won then they could have said that (two new balls) was a plus point because the ball came on nicely to the bat", the leg-spinner said.

Australia ODI squad: Steve Smith (c), David Warner, Ashton Agar, Hilton Cartwright, Nathan Coulter-Nile, Patrick Cummins, James Faulkner, Aaron Finch, Peter Handscomb, Travis Head, Glenn Maxwell, Kane Richardson, Marcus Stoinis, Matthew Wade, Adam Zampa.

However, Indian spinner Yuzvendra Chahal was not impressed by the Smith's comment and refuted the Aussie skipper's remarks that two new balls was a plus for the hosts. We have been facing fast bowlers and other net bowlers.

"Our minus point was that we had to bowl 10 overs each with a new ball". Australia had an advantage in the 20-over game, because the rule was not for a 20-over game and the extra fielder was always in the inner circle.

Australia were set a revised target of 164 from 21 overs after rain interrupted the game. "In the end, we bowled quite well", is how he analysed the situation, where India was reeling after losing five wickets in only the 23rd over.

Australia had brought in local bowler KK Jiyas ahead of Sunday's game to practise facing a left-arm wrist spinner and Smith said the performance in Chennai was disappointing but that his side have got to be ready for more. Australia captain Steve Smith had said that two new balls from each end made it hard for them to score but weather is one thing they could not control.

"There was no pressure as such".

Kuldeep during the post-match show revealed how Dhoni told him to go about bowling against the Australian opener. "We (both him and Kuldeep) don't think a lot about what's happening around". The Haryana legspinner said the presence of an aggressive captain gives "more freedom" to wrist spinners. As we both are wrist spinners, we go for wickets at the start. "I have bowled a lot to him (Maxwell) in the IPL".

Chahal eventually had the better off Maxwell as he threw one wide to end Maxwell's innings after the Australian batsman was caught at the long-on.

India reached 7-281, with Kumar and MS Dhoni putting on 56 runs in the 33 balls after the review. So, Mahi bhai and Virat bhai asked me to push it outside and keep checking his feet.

"The plan was to get it to spin, but change the line". As he is habitual of that, he kept on talking from behind the wickets and said,"Woh maarne wala dalna, andar ya baahar koi bhi (Bowl the one that he tries to hit, either turning in or out)".
